Mom and Daughter Working Together

ABC Elementary School recently hosted its annual Parenting Day in conjunction with Statewide Parenting Month.  Parents were greeted at the registration desk by student council members and peer mediators.  Student Council Secretary Chelan Square welcomed parents during a short assembly, and sisters Katelyn and Kristen Harris performed a duet.  Parents then rotated through sessions on homework help and testing, Accelerated Reader, math, reading and parental involvement facilitated by Principal Laurette Gibson, Reading Coach Rashonda Jackson, 4-6 Math Teacher Stacey Powell, Media Specialist Sharon Robinson, and Parent Liaison Debra Turk.  Several parents then ate lunch with their children and visited their classrooms.  The day was capped off with refreshments in the library.  Parents, grandparents, and guardians alike declared the event a success.
